Co-Operative Education Pre-Placement Module

Co-Operative Education Pre-Placement Module

Semester two

This module is designed for students who are preparing for summer co-op opportunities and are not enrolled in O2, have not previously taken a Co-op course, or are unable to enrol in a Co-op course at their school. It fulfills the mandatory pre-placement instructional component required for students seeking eligibility for summer co-op placements.

While this is not a credit course, it covers a key portion of the co-op pre-placement learning outcomes and helps students become eligible for summer co-op placements.

Learning will focus on workplace readiness, including career planning, workplace expectations, and safety.  Learners will provide evidence of learning to demonstrate their preparedness to enter a work placement and will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Time Commitment:

Completed over 10 weeks February to April.

Students complete the module during the school day based on their availability (e.g., lunch time (acceptable for this module only) or scheduled block)

NOTE: Completing this module is required for eligibility but does not guarantee a summer co-op placement. Students must consult with the co-op teacher at their school to confirm eligibility and next steps.

Additional details and documents are available on the Nova Scotia Curriculum site’s Co-operative Education 10-12 page and on the Career Pathways website.
